T-Mobile Drops HTC One S Price by $50
In a day apparently full of smartphone deals, T-Mobile has cut the price of the
HTC One S by $50, selling the device for $150. Yet, perhaps the carrier also has
ulterior motives for discounting the handset, say to make Samsung LCD room for
the fall release of HTC's latest flagship model. Customers must sign a new
two-year carrier agreement to get this price, which includes a mail-in Samsung Galaxy
Ace Cases rebate if $50. T-Mobile has also waived the usual $35 activation
fee, remnant of Sprint's latest offering for the newly discounted iPhone 4S. The
4.3-inch device sports a HD Super AMOLED screen with 960 x 540 pixels resolution
and packs a dual-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor. Featuring 1GB of RAM,
16GB of on-board memory, built-in Beats Audio technology and an 8 MP rear-facing
camera, the HTC One S runs Android 4.0, though an upgrade to version 4.1,
codenamed Jelly Bean, has been promised. The special offer will last until Aug.
21, but before indulging in this bargain, be sure to read Brighthand's full
review of the HTC One S to find out more about its great performance but
insufficiently sharp display. An Additional HTC Model? With AT&T dropping
the price of HTC's flagship model, the One X, by 50 percent last week, it seems
a little odd that T-Mobile would also cut the price of its HTC smartphone;
unless of course both carriers are preparing space for Nokia LCD a new device by
HTC. Known as the One X+, the rumored handset is said to come packing a full HD
1280 x 720 resolution display, a quad-core 1.7 GHz Tegra 3 processor and will
run Android 4.1 out of the box. While HTC has yet to confirm such whispers, the
recent discounts to its earlier devices are mounting evidence that we should be
seeing this smartphone sometime soon.
